Dell Latitude 3500 Heatsink Replacement

What you need

  1. Dell Latitude 3500 Heatsink Replacement, Remove screws: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • 10 screws hold the bottom cover in place -- these stay in the bottom cover.

  2. Dell Latitude 3500 Heatsink Replacement, Separate bottom cover and palmrest: step 2, image 1 of 1
    • Using a spudger will make quick work of this step.

  3. Dell Latitude 3500 Heatsink Replacement, Disconnect and Remove Battery: step 3, image 1 of 1
    • Disconnect the battery cable from the motherboard.

    • Remove the 4 screws holding it in place

    • Battery can now be removed from device.

  4. Dell Latitude 3500 Heatsink Replacement, Disconnect Surrounding Connections from System Fan: step 4, image 1 of 1
    • Unplug the fan header

    • Unplug the VGA board cable

    • Unplug the LCD cable

    • Once these 2 screws are removed the fan will lift out as long as the cables are out of the way.

  6. Dell Latitude 3500 Heatsink Replacement, Loosen Screws: step 6, image 1 of 1
    • Loosen the 7 screws in sequential order as labeled on the heatsink [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]

    • Lift heatsink out of device

    • To replace these screws: place the heatsink, line up the screw holes, then tighten the screws in the same sequential order labeled on the heatsink.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
