Dell Inspiron 6000 DVD/CD Drive Replacement

Introduction

Removing the DVD/CD drive will help to replace a broken or damaged drive.

What you need

  1. Dell Inspiron 6000 DVD/CD Drive Replacement, Battery: step 1, image 1 of 1

    • To prevent injury, make sure the laptop is unplugged before removing the battery.

    • Flip the laptop over, bottom-side up.

  2. Dell Inspiron 6000 DVD/CD Drive Replacement: step 2, image 1 of 1

    • Push the switch next to the battery.

    • At the same time, lift the battery away from the laptop.

    • Remove one 4mm Philips #00 screw.

  5. Dell Inspiron 6000 DVD/CD Drive Replacement, Inserting Paper Clip: step 4, image 1 of 1

    • Open the paperclip as seen here.

    • Insert the paper clip into small hole next to the eject button on the disk drive.

  6. Dell Inspiron 6000 DVD/CD Drive Replacement, Popping Out the DVD/CD Drive: step 5, image 1 of 1

    • With slight pressure, push the paperclip into the laptop.

    • The disk drive will slowly "pop out" of the side of the laptop.

  7. Dell Inspiron 6000 DVD/CD Drive Replacement, Completely removing the DVD/CD Drive: step 6, image 1 of 1

    • Using your hand, pull the disk drive out of the laptop.
