Introduction

You would need to be removing the keyboard to access the heatsink and fan. If you need to, add a new layer of Arctic Silver Thermal Paste.

Remove battery

  • Open screen so that it lies flat.

Starting from the right side of the hinge cover,  use the flat end of the spudger to pry up the hinge cover and gently remove it. Starting from the right side of the hinge cover,  use the flat end of the spudger to pry up the hinge cover and gently remove it.
  • Starting from the right side of the hinge cover, use the flat end of the spudger to pry up the hinge cover and gently remove it.

Remove the four M2 x 3-mm screws holding in the keyboard. Remove the four M2 x 3-mm screws holding in the keyboard.
  • Remove the four M2 x 3-mm screws holding in the keyboard.

Lift keyboard and detach the interface connector.
  • Lift keyboard and detach the interface connector.

  • Take extra care when removing and handling the keyboard. The key caps on the keyboard are fragile, easily dislocate and would be time-consuming to replace.

Remove two screws (5.8mm) located behind the screen. Remove two screws (5.8mm) located behind the screen.
  • Remove two screws (5.8mm) located behind the screen.

Remove one screw (8.6 mm) on metal plating. Remove the metal plating
  • Remove one screw (8.6 mm) on metal plating.

  • Remove the metal plating

Loosen four screws. These screws are attached to the heat sink and cannot be completely removed.

Disconnect the wire connecting the heatsink to the motherboard. Disconnect the wire connecting the heatsink to the motherboard.
  • Disconnect the wire connecting the heatsink to the motherboard.

Slide the heatsink away from the screen and lift.
  • Slide the heatsink away from the screen and lift.

Conclusion

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
