If your Dell Inspiron 1564 Laptop is not holding a charge or will not turn on, a battery replacement may be the solution.


No tools required.


  • Place the laptop on a flat surface and open the cover.

Unplug the power cord from the laptop.
  • Unplug the power cord from the laptop.

  • Turn the laptop off by holding down the silver power button in the upper left corner until all the lights turn off.

  • Important: If the laptop is not turned off, there is a risk of electrical shock when replacing the battery.

  • Close the cover of the laptop and turn the laptop over so that the bottom is facing up.

  • First, locate the release latch (indicated by the red box). Second, locate the battery on the bottom of the laptop (indicated by the orange box).

  • Slide the battery release latch to the right and hold it. With your other hand pull the battery away from the laptop and release the latch.

  • - Discard the old battery according to your local laws.

  • Slide the new battery into the battery slot and push the battery in until you hear the click of the latch.

  • Return your laptop to its upright position and plug in the laptop.

  • - Make sure the battery is fully charged before using your laptop. Please refer to your laptop manual for instructions on charging your laptop battery.
