" Lens Error. Will shut down automatically." Cannot access menu. Shutter is half open under the lens cover.

Mine lens cover was completely closed but when I gently rubbed on it like the instructions said nowlens cover is half open. It still gives me the message "lens error. Will shut down automatically. Restart camera". Nothing seems to help.
