Introduction

This guide will show you how to replace an old worn out or dead battery in an Asus ZenBook UX303U laptop.

  1. Flip your laptop over so that the bottom is facing you. Remove the nine 4mm Phillips #00 screws from the back panel.

    • Remove the two black rubber pads at the rear corners of the laptop near the screen hinge. They are attached with adhesive and can be pried off with a plastic removal tool or flat head screwdriver.

    • Remove the two screws from where the rubber pads were attached.

  2. Insert the ifixit opening tool between back panel and the frame. Lift to remove the back panel.

  4. Pull the battery cable out of its four retaining clips with either your fingers, or a plastic opening tool. Pull the battery cable out of its four retaining clips with either your fingers, or a plastic opening tool.

  5. Remove all seven 2mm Phillips #00 screws from the battery. Remove all seven 2mm Phillips #00 screws from the battery.

  6. Disconnect the speaker cable by pulling  it out of its connector with a plastic opening tool. Disconnect the battery cable by pulling it out of its connector with a plastic opening tool. Disconnect the battery cable by pulling it out of its connector with a plastic opening tool.
    • Disconnect the speaker cable by pulling it out of its connector with a plastic opening tool.

    • Disconnect the battery cable by pulling it out of its connector with a plastic opening tool.

  7. Lift the battery up and pull out to remove. Check underneath the battery for the wire assembly connecting the touchpad to the motherboard. This connection may stick to the underside of the battery. Be careful not to damage it when removing the battery.

There are two screws holding the back panel in place. They are located below the two rubber pads at the back of the pc. They must be removed in order to open the back panel.

Just gone through this, but two problems surfaced. 1 it won’t connect to our usual WiFi router and can’t figure out why. Is it possible to damage the WiFi connectivity when removing battery? 2 there’s no indication of charge levels. It says 100% and doesn’t change. Thoughts?

Take all that back. Went back in and battery connector hadn’t clicked in far enough. Seems to be working fine now.
