    • Remove the nine Philips #00 screws holding the back panel in place (four 5.6mm, four 7.7mm, and one 9.2mm).

The four 7.7mm mm screws are on the edge near the labels (top of photo).

The 9.2 mm screw is in the center.

    • Use a plastic opening tool to gently remove the back panel.

  4. Asus VivoBook Q200E-BSI3T08 Motherboard Replacement, Battery: step 4, image 1 of 1
    • Remove the eight 4.7mm Philips #00 screws holding the battery in place.

I would recommend removing the battery first, or at least disconnecting if from the rest of the system to prevent any unwanted electric discharge. Think of it as the equivalent of opening your PC where the first thing you do is disconnect the plug from the power supply.

You can disconnect the battery by lifting the ten wire connection running from the battery to the board. In the image above it appears just above the middle of the battery at the top (almost square in the middle of the laptop). In my system it has (from left to right) four red wires, one white wire, one yellow wire, and then four black wires. This connection can be removed by placing a finger-nail or small screwdriver underneath either side of the terminal (black plastic piece) and gently prying it upward.

Again, I highly recommend against removing any other components before ensuring that the power supply (battery) is disconnected.

    • The battery is attached by a set of wires.

    • Use your finger to disconnect the set of wires. It should come off very easily.

  7. Asus VivoBook Q200E-BSI3T08 Motherboard Replacement, Cooling Fan: step 7, image 1 of 1
    • Unscrew the five 4.9mm screws holding the cooling fan in place using a Phillips #0 screwdriver.

  8. Asus VivoBook Q200E-BSI3T08 Motherboard Replacement: step 8, image 1 of 1
    • Unplug the power bus for the fan.

  9. Asus VivoBook Q200E-BSI3T08 Motherboard Replacement: step 9, image 1 of 1
    • Lift up and remove the cooling fan from the slot.

  10. Asus VivoBook Q200E-BSI3T08 Motherboard Replacement, Wireless Card: step 10, image 1 of 2 Asus VivoBook Q200E-BSI3T08 Motherboard Replacement, Wireless Card: step 10, image 2 of 2
    • Locate wireless card next to battery.

  11. Asus VivoBook Q200E-BSI3T08 Motherboard Replacement: step 11, image 1 of 1
    • Remove the one 4.9mm screw that holds the wireless card in place with a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

  12. Asus VivoBook Q200E-BSI3T08 Motherboard Replacement: step 12, image 1 of 1
    • Unplug the black coaxial cable from the wireless card.

  13. Asus VivoBook Q200E-BSI3T08 Motherboard Replacement: step 13, image 1 of 1
    • Pull the wireless card from connector slot.

  14. Asus VivoBook Q200E-BSI3T08 Motherboard Replacement, Motherboard: step 14, image 1 of 1
    • Locate the motherboard under the cooling fan.

You will need to remove the cooling fan. Although you cannot see it in the image the gaping hole in the motherboard gives a pretty good indication of where it was. There are five screws you will need to remove to pull the fan and its shroud along with one small four wire terminal. Pull the terminal back from its connection with a needle nose pliers or tweezers. One of the screws you remove will make it official that you are voiding any existing warranty.

  15. Asus VivoBook Q200E-BSI3T08 Motherboard Replacement: step 15, image 1 of 1
    • Unscrew the two 5.9mm screws on the PCB board with a Phillips #0 screwdriver.

There are two terminals that need to be disconnected prior to lifting the board. I recommend pulling the terminals out with a needle nose pliers or better yet tweezers. Make certain that you apply pressure only to the terminal connection and not the wires. These tiny wires can easily brake and restoring the actual metal terminal connection at their ends is a project in and of itself.

There are five screws in total that will need to be removed. Three will appear the right hand side of the image above. There are two connection points for this PCB that you will need to disconnect. The one that appears in the image above can be lifted out of its seat. The one on the right side of where the image cuts off needs to be carefully removed as it you will need to rock in inward to clear a USB, VGA, 3.5mm jack, and a card reader slot from their seats. At the same time you will need to gently pull it back away from the terminal connection that you will see behind the speaker (again, not pictured).

  16. Asus VivoBook Q200E-BSI3T08 Motherboard Replacement: step 16, image 1 of 1
    • Remove the PCB board from the motherboard.

  17. Asus VivoBook Q200E-BSI3T08 Motherboard Replacement: step 17, image 1 of 1
    • Unscrew the four 5.9mm hard drive bracket screws with a Phillips #0 screwdriver.

There actually should only be three to remove here. The slot in the lower-left of the image is marked by an X on the frame near it. This screw is also one of the four 7.7mm screws that holds on the back panel and will have already been removed by the time you get to this step.

This step also needs to precede Steps 5 & 6 since the two screws at the top of the hard drive bay are also holding down this PCB.

  18. Asus VivoBook Q200E-BSI3T08 Motherboard Replacement: step 18, image 1 of 2 Asus VivoBook Q200E-BSI3T08 Motherboard Replacement: step 18, image 2 of 2
    • Unscrew the four 5.9mm screws with a Phillips #0 screwdriver.

    • Next, carefully lift the LAN bracket out of the slot.

  19. Asus VivoBook Q200E-BSI3T08 Motherboard Replacement: step 19, image 1 of 1
    • Remove the five 5.9mm screws holding the motherboard in place with a Phillips #0 screwdriver.

    • Remove the five 3.5mm screws holding the motherboard with a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

There should not be a screw present on the left side of the fan bay as it will be remove to pull the fan. The top right-most hole should also be vacant as it is for the 9.2mm screw removed from the middle of the back panel. The top-center hole will be vacant from removing the battery. You will remove a total of seven screws to release the motherboard. You will also need to disconnect four terminals. The power bus (steps below in 11?). Next to that is a shrouded header terminal connection that can be pulled out with needle nose pliers or tweezers. To the right of that is is a slip lock bus that you push the crimp piece out from the sides to release the connection. Finally you will come to the motherboard bus which is a flip lock terminal. It is black and white. The black can be pulled back (or flipped back) to release the cable.

  20. Asus VivoBook Q200E-BSI3T08 Motherboard Replacement: step 20, image 1 of 1
    • Carefully lift the motherboard up out of the slot.

  21. Asus VivoBook Q200E-BSI3T08 Motherboard Replacement: step 21, image 1 of 2 Asus VivoBook Q200E-BSI3T08 Motherboard Replacement: step 21, image 2 of 2
    • Locate and unplug the power bus from the motherboard.

    • The motherboard can now be replaced.

This step should precede Step 10. Release all terminals before removing the screws or pulling the motherboard.
