Asus Chromebook C201 Charging Port Replacement

What you need

  1. Asus Chromebook C201 Charging Port Replacement, How to Replace the Asus c201 Charging Port: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • As you can see in this picture I've already removed the charging port(lower right corner). If you need a guide to understand how to get to this step, this guide probably isn't for you seeing as it involves soldering.

    • Now, as far as I can tell, considering Asus doesn't realease their board schematics, the four larger pins on the sides of the port assembly are the main hot and neutral pins, and the three smaller pins on the back are for the indicator LED. Before placing the assembly on the board, it is best to wick away old solder. Place the port on the board.

    • Now that you have the assembly placed on the board, you are going to want to grab some tweezers and a soldering iron with a pencil tip. Simply apply some solder to the areas where the pins rest while holding the assembly in place. The solder should adhere to the solder pads and you should have yourself a working charging port. Congrats.

    • If you're board isn't that easy, and you're missing a solder pad or pads, you're going to have to determine where the traces run to out of the port and run a jumper. Unfortunately I don't have that information on hand.
