Amazon Echo Dot 2nd Generation Ribbon Cable Replacement

Introduction

Use this guide to replace the ribbon cable in the Amazon Echo Dot 2nd Generation.

What you need

  1. Amazon Echo Dot 2nd Generation Ribbon Cable Replacement, Ribbon Cable: step 1, image 1 of 3 Amazon Echo Dot 2nd Generation Ribbon Cable Replacement, Ribbon Cable: step 1, image 2 of 3 Amazon Echo Dot 2nd Generation Ribbon Cable Replacement, Ribbon Cable: step 1, image 3 of 3

    • Power off and unplug the echo

    • Using the plastic opening tool, peel off the rubber layer on the bottom of the echo

    • Use a T8 screwdriver bit to unscrew the 1.6mm four screws.

    • Remove the black cylindrical base

    • Use the metal spudger to lift the ZIF connector

    • Remove the ribbon cable from the slot

    • Remove the motherboard

    • Remove the silver divider

    • Remove the black rubber divider

    • Remove the plastic white frame

    • Use the metal spudger to lift the ZIF connector

    • Remove the ribbon cable from the slot on the LED/speaker board
