Acer Chromebook Spin 15 CP315-1H-P1K8 Touchpad Replacement

Introduction

This guide is useful for helping to troubleshoot or replace the Acer Chromebook Spin 15 CP315-1H-P1K8 touchpad. If the touchpad on your laptop is no longer responsive or no longer functioning, use this guide to remove and replace the touchpad.

What you need

  1. Acer Chromebook Spin 15 CP315-1H-P1K8 Touchpad Replacement, Back Cover: step 1, image 1 of 2 Acer Chromebook Spin 15 CP315-1H-P1K8 Touchpad Replacement, Back Cover: step 1, image 2 of 2

    • Make sure the device is fully powered off.

    • Flip the computer over so that the back is facing up.

    • Remove the twelve 6mm Phillips #1 screws from the bottom of the laptop.

    • Use the iFixit opening tools as wedges to pry the back of the laptop off.

    • Go slow, making sure not to snap the plastic. With enough of a gap made, you can use your hand to finish taking off the back.

    • Remove the ribbon cable by pulling the plastic connector that is connected to the motherboard out.

    • Remove the battery from the laptop by hand.

    • Detach the ribbon cable from the touchpad.

    • Remove the tan adhesive tape that is covering the touchpad to expose the screws holding it in.

    • Remove the three, 3mm long screws that are holding the touchpad in place.

    • Gently push the touchpad out with your hand.
