Introduction

Laptops endure considerable wear and tear. One of the common issues is missing or faulty key. This guide will provide step by step instructions to demonstrate how to replace a keyboard key.

What you need

Step 1 Keyboard Key

Use a plastic opening tool or spudger and gently insert it in between the crevice of the key.
Begin carefully prying the key from each side until it is easily removed by hand.
When working with electronics, it's important to choose a tool that's ESD-safe to avoid accidental damage to the device. The regular black nylon spudger or a plastic opening tool should be used whenever possible.

Step 2

Once the key is completely removed, you can insert the new key by laying it on top of the empty key and pressing down until you hear it "click" in place.
