Introduction

The 4-cell battery on the Aspire R7 is not externally accessible and requires a small amount of disassembly in order to replace it.

Shut down the laptop and disconnect the power cord
  • Shut down the laptop and disconnect the power cord

    • Failing to disconnect or shut down the laptop could result in damage to the laptop or a shock hazard.

  • Turn the laptop over

Remove the (6) visible 10mm T-7 screws Remove the (4) visible 6mm T-7 screws Use the blue plastic opening tool to carefully remove the rubber pad which covers the two remaining screws
  • Remove the (6) visible 10mm T-7 screws

  • Remove the (4) visible 6mm T-7 screws

  • Use the blue plastic opening tool to carefully remove the rubber pad which covers the two remaining screws

  • Remove the remaining (2) 10mm T-7 screws

Step 2 is missing the 1 (10mm T-7 ) screw that is under a rubber pad in the bottom middle of the laptop. The picture shows this pad and screw already missing. Note the silver color instead of the black color of the rest of the bottom of the laptop.

Carefully lift the cover upwards
  • Carefully lift the cover upwards

    • If the cover seems stuck use a spudger tool to pry the sides

  • Carefully lift the battery from the motherboard
