2004 - 2008 Acura TSX (CL9) Spark Plug Replacement

What you need

  1. 2004 - 2008 Acura TSX (CL9) Spark Plug Replacement, Opening the hood: step 1, image 1 of 1
    • Locate the hood latch beside the driver's side door, right next to the left foot rest.

    • Pull the latch, should here a pop noise to know the hood has unlatched.

    • Walk in front of the car, reach your hand under the front of the hood to locate the latch.

    • Prop the latch and locate the spark plug cover.

    • Remove the cover where the Spark Plugs are located

    • Use a 10 mm hex driver or socket to remove the four screws that hold the spark plug cover in place

    • Follow the Green circles

    • Use a 10 mm hex driver or socket to remove the four screws that are holding the Spark Plug wires in place.

    • Remove the spark plug wire by pinching the locking tabs on either side of it and pulling it out.

    • Once clips are removed,

    • Pull the remove the Ignition Coil out and place them in order the way you have pulled them out.

    • You should see 4 holes where the spark plugs are located.

    • Locate the spark plug at the bottom of the bore.

    • Use a ratchet, extension, and 5/8 socket to remove the plug by turning counterclockwise until it's free.

    • You can use a spark plug socket for an easier removal.

    • Pull the plug out of the bore.

    • Use a ratchet, extension, and 5/8 socket to remove the plug by turning counterclockwise until it's free.

    • Determine if the spark plug needs to be replaced by examining the gap for the problems listed below:

    • The gap is bridged by corrosion.

    • The gap is too large.

    • The area around the gap is black and dark.

    • If the spark plug doesn't need to be replaced, return it to the spark plug bore. If it does need to be replaced, use a new one.

    • Use a ratchet, extension, and 5/8 socket to tighten the spark plug by turning clockwise. Use your hand to tighten as well.

    • If you don't want to purchase a spark plug socket.

    • you can use a regular 16 hex mm socket.

    • Have a magnetic extension pen to gently connect the spark plugs and remove it out the bore.

    • Repeat steps from 6-8 removing each plugs and checking if they are bad.

    • Once you double check each spark plugs. Reverse steps and make sure bolts are tight and spark plug wires are snapped in perfectly.

    • You have completed Spark plugs removal for Acura TSX.

Conclusion

After reinstalling all 4 spark plugs, follow steps 1-4 in reverse order and reattach the spark plug cover and close the hood.

Is there are particular torque the spark plugs need to be tightened to?
