Introduction

This is a manual on how to replace/install the low beam lights on a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado. The headlight is held by clips. You will not needs any tools to complete this project beside the replacement bulbs.

Tools

No tools required.

Make sure vehicle is turned off and has cooled down before starting. Open the hood of the truck. Remove the pin from the two clips on top of the headlight housing.
  • Make sure vehicle is turned off and has cooled down before starting.

  • Remove the pin from the two clips on top of the headlight housing.

  • Make sure to put pin in a safe place so it can be easily located when reinstalling the headlight.

Tilt the headlight away from the bumper. This movement should be direct towards the operator. Unplug the blue clips on the back of the wiring harness which hold the lightbulbs. Twist the light bulb and housing counter-clockwise. After twisting the housing, gently remove it from the headlight.

Insert new bulb. Make sure to twist the bulb clockwise after inserting so that the long part is facing down. Connect the blue clips onto the bottom of the lightbulb.
  • Insert new bulb.

  • Make sure to twist the bulb clockwise after inserting so that the long part is facing down.

  • Connect the blue clips onto the bottom of the lightbulb.

Put the headlight casing back into the bumper. Make sure that the casing is aligned correctly before inserting the pin. Put pin back into the holder and twist it so that it is flat.

For better efficiency replace the other low beam, therefore one is not brighter then the other. Enjoy your new headlights.

FYI: don't touch the bulbs with bare hands. The oil from your fingers will cause them to burn out early.
