The Sony Handycam DCR-SR42 is a handheld camcorder produced and marketed by the Sony Corporation. It was released in March, 2007. The camera is about 5 inches long, 3 inches high, and 3 inches wide. It has a silver plastic case with a black plastic bottom. The outside of the screen panel has the Sony Handycam brand logo, and the specific model written in the bottom left hand corner (i.e., DCR-SR42)

camcorder is capable of 40X Optical/2000X Digital Zoom which magnifies recorded images. It also provides a higher quality of image zooming than the older models of camcorders produced by Sony.
