Background and Identification ¶

Released for the 1995 model year, the first generation Neon contained many variations with options for a two seat coupe or four seat sedan, a 132 hp or a 150 hp engine, and a three-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission. It was known as the Dodge Neon or Plymouth Neon in North America and the Chrysler Neon in the rest of the world. While this car stepped up the game in the area of performance in its time, it lacked safety and was one of the lowest rated cars in terms of safety according to the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety.
