Founded in 2000, PC Rebuilders & Recyclers has a two-fold purpose of bridging the digital divide and supporting environmental responsibility through the refreshment of prematurely retired computer systems. In doing so, we provide an inexpensive way for corporations to dispose of their unwanted equipment as well as an inexpensive way for schools to invest in technology for all children. PCRR was launched by Willie Cade in his basement on the north side of Chicago. Since then it has grown into a 30,000 square foot refurbishing facility. The program has placed computers in schools, non-profit organizations and need-based homes proving that limited funding does not preclude access to technology.
PC Rebuilders & Recyclers refurbishes and upgrades equipment with genuine Microsoft® software keeping current with educational technology standards. As one of the first Microsoft® Authorized Refurbisher (MAR), PCRR offers a complete refurbished computer system as a cost-effective alternative to new equipment. PCRR is also a certified Responsible Recycler R2®. R2®Certification gives a simple means of verifying that an electronics recycling company is forthright and responsible about how it manages used and end-of-life electronic equipment.
Along with refurbishing and recycling PC Rebuilders & Recyclers strives to support the growth of our industry by hosting the Electronic Reuse Conference (ERC) and distributing the Microsoft® Refurbisher Preinstallation Kit (RPK). PCRR is the only worldwide distributor of the RPK, which is an easy and robust software package for testing hardware, installing and imaging Windows® based operating systems. PCRR is proud to work with other refurbishers around the world to promote responsible reuse, refurbishing and recycling.
