Features

Plug and Play/Hot Swappable, this adapter turns any IDE or SATA drive into an external storage solution making it easy to transfer files from your computer or notebook.

Compatible with 2.5" and 3.5" PATA/IDE hard drives, 2.5" and 3.5" SATA hard drives, and 5.25" PATA/IDE optical drives.

Not compatible with SATA/PATA Slim optical drives or MacBook Air, MacBook Pro Retina, and Mac Pro internal solid state hard drives.

An external power adapter is included to supply sufficient power for 3.5" hard drives and 5.25" optical drives. USB power without the external power adapter provides sufficient power for most 2.5" hard drives.

Please note: NO DRIVERS are included. The instructions mention a 'Driver CD' but our version of this product does not include this software.

My Problem

Hard drive going to !&&*. 5 years is a good long life.

My Fix

Replaced MBP original HD with Crucial MX550 SSD, pretty simple. The external USB to SATA adapter was flawless, cloned the dying drive in about 2 hours, swapping the drives took about 20 minutes. Would have gone quicker had I had the T6 Torx drive . . .

My Problem

I suffered slow performance for 2 years and thought the machine was just getting long in the tooth. I created a Yosemite boot disk on a USB drive. The machine was incredibly fast when running even over USB 2.0, so I had a feeling it was the hard drive. I ran SpinRite for a day and it started to show . . .

the old battery was down to 40 minutes run time on a full charge. time for a new battery.

My Fix

opening the case was the hardest part. once that hurdle was overcome the rest was pretty straight forward. ipod is like new, plays for several hours now.

My Advice

i did not disconnect any of the ribbon cables between t . . .

My Problem

I have replaced the optical drive and the original hard drive by 2 ssd samsung 1.5 years ago. A few weeks ago the hard drive cable of the primary one breack.

So I had the problems below :

- 1 hard drive not recognized

- Click brocken on trackpad

- battery in service mode

My Problem

I had a 500 gig external hard drive that the case had failed on and I could not retrieve my stored information, almost 400 gigs worth.

My Fix

I received Exactly what was described when I purchased the adapter. The instructions were simple and it worked like a charm. I was even able to use it on 3 other dr . . .

My Problem

The current 500GB drive had run out of space, so we upgraded to 4T.

My Fix

Everything went well, however a word of caution. The video cable mount is very tiny and you need small hands to reseat it.

My Advice

You don't need to remove the LCD screen, you can reach the screws that hold the drive in place by simply liftin . . .

My Problem

I've opened the back of my Macbook Pro a number of times and thought, since I was placing another Order with iFixit, that I would be proactive and also order the Lower Case Screw Set.

My Fix

The new screws did not screw in as easily as the originals and they seemed to be softer and as a result the heads wer . . .

My Problem

My customer had a new computer and I needed to move the data from a broken Mac.

My Fix

The repair went well. I removed the hard drive from the old computer and used the universal drive adapter to transfer the information to the new computer. Great product....worked perfectly!

Always grab the glass when put . . .
