Is it possible to disconnect wifi from iPod touch?

We are interested in removing the wifi capability from our daughter's ipod touch. Is it possible to remove or disconnect the wifi chip ? If so, could it be reconnected at a later date?

Hey Cheryl,

You can remove the Wi-Fi board, but taking apart the iPod touch is not very much fun! It requires a lot of heat-gunning and small part prying.

Luckily, there is a really easy fix! A quick Google search told me that you can pretty easily block everything that uses Wi-Fi and require a password to access it.

Go to Settings>General>Restrictions>Enable Restrictions and it will ask for a 4 digit password. Then turn everything on.

This way, you can go back in and turn it off at a later time if you want to, and you don't have to worry about taking the device apart!

Hope this helps! Happy fixing!

Thanks Jake. The parental controls for the ipod are really not that effective when it comes to tech savy kids. Do you know if there is an antenna that can be detached or is it easier to remove the wifi board?

Awh, if that is the case then yes, you can certainly remove the Wi-Fi antenna by following this guide! Just take your time and work carefully when removing the front panel and you should have no problems. Good luck!

Thanks Jake! I appreciate your help!

One would do that because they feel it's appropriate to protect their child from the sleaze in this world that so many others accept as "normal".

You raise your kids any way you see fit. Let everyone else do the same.
