wet and black spark plugs

l started noticing that the car was now lacking power, and when l checked the plugs. l realized they were black and wet. what can be the causes and how can l differentiate that the wet substance is petrol or oil?

Fouling plugs is a pretty common problem for a motor that has bad compression. Easiest way to figure out if it's oil or petrol is to pull the plugs out and wait about 3 minutes then touch them. If it's oil it will still be wet, if it's petrol it will have evaporated
