Dell U2713HMt - No Image but vertical moving lines

Hi.

I've got a Dell U2713HMt. After i returned from a break to the monitor it only shows a blue image with vertical lines. The lines ar changing every time i've move the mouse or open the start menue.

Here are 2 Pictures how it looks like if you turn on the monitor without any cable connected to an computer:

You can find a Video (not from me) which shows the error: here

I've already opened the monitor and looked on every board. All capacitors are fine. Also no black or burned areas are visible. All conectors are pluged.

Has anybody an idea where i can find the error?

Edit: Here are the pictures from the built in diagnostics:

Hi @ohmon ,

Try the built in diagnostics (if it works) to see if you can get further into what may be causing the problem.

Here is a link to the user guide

Scroll down to built in diagnostic section

Hi there and happy holidays.

@jayeff - Thank you for the pdf.

I tried the steps in the user guide and run the built in diagnostics multiple times. Here is what it looks:

Edit - I posted the pictures in the firste post.

At the first time the upper bar was also displayed correctly and the lable at the end of the test was clearly readable.

Also i noticed that the lines are moving/disappearing slowly instead of instand if the showen picture was changed.

I've tried the factory reset but because i cant see the OSD im not sure i've done it correctly.

Hi @ohmon ,

Happy holidays to you too.

When you say "All connectors are plugged" did you actually unplug the cables? If not try re-seating the cable connections between all the boards etc. i.e. with the power disconnected, unplug the boards and then reconnect them again.

Other than that the only thing I can think of is that you have a mainboard problem which without a schematic would be hard to locate.

One suggestion is to find the board number printed on the mainboard and search online using the number only as the search term, to see if one is available at a price that suits you. Sometimes you also can get lucky on places like Ebay where someone is selling the monitor as "faulty good for parts" because the screen has been cracked but everything else is OK.

Good luck

Hey man, I am having the same problem, did you manage to solve it?

Hi.

Unfortunately not. From time to time, i look if i can find a mainboard for this monitor. But i can´t find a single piece.

Hello everyone I have this 29 inch monitor u2913 and it freaks out and has lines just like this I leave it unplugged for a couple days and it works again.

I think it has a problem processing the different resolutions. (I use it as a test monitor because it has everything)

So I use it with my power Mac g4 (for games)with VGA and it works.

I no longer use it as a test monitor.
