Melody Dolce Gusto Coffee Pod not being properly pierced

Piercing mechanism appears to have shrunk back into casing, so water does not enter pod. Can piercing mechanism be repaired/replaced?

Does the not piercing make water and coffee go all over the place. Mine does but not sure what's causing it
