Touch screen not working after screen replacement

Just replaced the touch screen on a friend's phone, and it's completely unresponsive, LCD works fine though. Old screen is also completely unresponsive with LCD working. Anything I can do to try and fix this or did I bust the connector on the motherboard itself?

I had this problem too after an iPhone 6S Plus screen replacement. I always test “before” I finish assembly and the digitizer was not working. I was holding the screen and the case so they weren’t touching. It turns out that the screen shield needs to be in contact with the case for it to work. That’s 3 hours of diagnostics I’ll never get back.

@provibe I’m having the same issue. When I’m holding, it works. When I’m not holding, not working!! I didn’t understand what have you done. Please help me

I have the similar issue with Iphone XR. The touch screen doesn't work. I tested it after plugging in the cables, it worked just fine. I turned off the phone, disconnected the cables. Placed the plate over the battery and sim connector and then Plugged back the LCD screen cables and put back its metal plate on it. When I turned on the screen after completing the assembly, the touch screen didn't respond. I have tried disassembly and reassembled a couples time, still doesn't work. Even after the dfu reset, screen doesn't respond.

I would closely inspect the connectors for the digitizer on the logic board (look here) as well as the surrounding area for any tiny components that may have been knocked off. Magnification is important here as the parts are tiny.

Already looked and didn't see anything, but I don't have any form of magnification with me. Will do again once I get home and have a magnifying glass. If a connector has been knocked off, what's my next course of action? What should I do if I don't see any damage?

If the connector or any surrounding components are damaged/missing, it will require a micro-soldering repair.

If you don't see anything with magnification then ideally you need to have this looked at by a repair shop to at least eliminate any modular component (screen, flexes etc) issues. If they can't find anything then a micro-soldering shop should be able to troubleshoot it.

It's most likely the touch filters located blow the connector. https://youtu.be/kk3mYfngY6c
