Card Physically damaged (missing a chunk)and now corrupt- salvageable?

Hey everyone,

So a little over a year ago I found buried in the dirt a SanDisk MicroSD Card inside a MicroSD to SD adapter, I promptly forgot about it after failing to read it as an SD card with a camera. Today, I freed up the MicroSD card from the adapter to discover it slightly damaged, it's missing a chunk of plastic from a side, however, all the pins are still intact. I failed to read it with Android based readers, and am now wondering if there's a way I can repair it anyhow so it can be used. I was wondering if anyone can tell me if the part of plastic that's missing was an important part or if I can crop together a fix with some cheap materials.

i#ve looked at my micro sd cards. they have all a different circuit layout - but all of them have circuits in the area thats missing from your card.

i've tried to make a good picture of that circuits - but it's not possible with my magnifier (it#s just black in black) - but if you look on the backside, you can see the lines

i p'shopped a picture to show you the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) area on a micro sd card

Thanks for your answer- so it looks like it's not possible? What if I cut that area from another MicroSD card and soldered it?

by

no chance, i think you need the exact same card and a magnifier - then you would be able to see whats missing/damaged - but soldering anything to it is not possible - it's too tiny. i think that even painting with conductive silver would be impossible.

by

That's what I was thinking of, a coat of solder, like painting conductive silver (that would be much better). Though somehow I think that making the whole area conductive would screw up the circuits. Oh well, i guess its simply not repairable.

Good effort at repairing though! :)

TRY THIS!!! I am a stay at home mom and it worked for me. I bought a Caig circuit board pen from radioshack for $11.00 . I traced the path of the circuit cured in my oven. Be careful. And it worked. This pen is used as a repair tool by electronic companies but is available to the consumer. What would we do without Google!
