Black screen, still works, but passcoded

Have the dreaded "black screen of death", black screen, but works as we got music playing on it at one stage.

Have done the whole press and hold home button and on/off button, with no luck.

Connected to itunes, but cant restore it as it comes up with "passcoded", because yes I have a password on my iphone.

Is there a way around the passcode, so I can try and restore?

mmmm..... it went through the whole restore and I thought "yay, its working", but no, it came up on itunes as "sim card inserted on this phone is PIN locked" and the screen is still black on the phone :(

We fix the pincode by putting the sim back into an old phone.

The restore went through all ok, but the screen is still black
