First check under System Preferences:Network that you didn't delete or disable your Ethernet service. Next under Applications->Utilities->System Profiler:Hardware-Ethernet cards ensure your device shows up. If those are copacetic look at the ends of your Ethernet cable (connector) to ensure it's locking tang is (locking in).

Check where you said and it shows that ethernet card connected. Looked at the connector of my cable and it looks good and it is locking in. Also check the port its self, blew it out and check the copper connectors and everything looks right. Could the port itself be disconnected inside the Mac.

A workaround is to get a USB Ethernet Dongle... you can't DIY repair a port connection to a logic board.

I am facing a similar issue here with my mid-2009 13.3" Macbook Pro.

All of a sudden, the Ethernet port stopped being responsive. I checked the Ethernet card and everything seems to be fine. Also, the port itself looks clean from the outside. I wouldn't mind replacing it for a new one by myself, but the ifixit guides do not have a tutorial on that (maybe it's not replaceable?).

Please help! :-/

Not as a DIY - Apple or a computer repair shop would have the tools & skills. Soldering MLBs is not like soldering a patch cord.
