Grouping iPhone contacts from the default Contacts app

Is this possible at all without having to use Outlook on my PC?

I have a friend who has organized his iPhone contacts into groups directly on his Contacts app, however he used Outlook, and I have no intention of doing so.

Is there a tweak for the iPhone in order for it to allow me to add and edit contact groups?

If you are on a Mac, you can use the Mac Address Book. For windows, you can use another tool in order to create and edit contact groups on your iPhone Contacts app:
