LCD color inverted after replacement

Well, I cracked my LCD a while back and finally got around to ordering a new part. It came in the mail today and I swapped it out with my old, bad LCD.

It didn't work, only displaying a bright white screen while booting up, and on the lock screen, it dims.

So I put my old LCD back in, but now the colors are inverted. ex: while booting up, the apple logo is black and the background is white.

I checked the accessibility setting and made sure the "White on Black" option is off, and it is.

Does anyone know what could be the problem? I tried to google my problem but I didn't get much helpful results.

EDIT: seems like the lcd ribbon is easily damaged, so take EXTREME caution when replacing.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Turn on the invert colors option and it will look normal, but you can put the replacement LCD in, turn it on, and hold down home and power for 10 seconds, and it will fix it.

On the 3GS you have 3 connectors to worry about. Oddly enough labeled 1, 2, and 3. Carefully remove the screen again and pop connectors 1, and 2 out. Then lift the screen slightly and flip the black tab to release ribbon 3.

From there reset 3 more securely, then engage the black tab. Snap in connector 1. Lastly you need to firmly set connector 2, I had to connect it and then move it slightly towards the home button to get it to set correctly.
