My laptop's screen suddenly goes black!

Hi

I have a toshiba laptop, which I have been using for a year... I was using it (a few days ago) and a soon as I turned it on again, it started running but its screen went black... If we look at it we can still see stuff going on back there, but its screen is black.... I searched online, people also told me I should turn it off, unplug it... and try turning it on by pressing the ON button for 20/60 seconds... I tried this procedure but unfortunatly it didnt work :(

I am waiting for any of your's reply it would be very kind of you... Thanks

Selena.

Selena, when you say that you "can still see stuff going on back there" I assume that you screen is dark, but when you angle a light at the screen, you can still see things on the screen. This would be most likely a bad backlight. Not sure which model your Toshiba is, but it does sound like your CCFL is not working, therefore you do not have a backlight. Some of those models allow you to repair the CCFL, not easy but doable. Or your can change the whole LCD. Again, most of this will depend on your model. Hope this helps, good luck.
