Display Faded and Now Black-Computer Boots

My display began to fade and come back to full resolution unpredictably. Rebooting would usually bring it back. Amazingly, I transferred all data to new MacBook Pro and the A1226 display went black the next time I tried to boot. The geniuses said that it isn't the nvidia issue. I love the A1226 and would like to fix. What do you think?

Did the geniuses connected your MBP on an external monitor to check the graphic chip ? If not that's the first thing i would try to know where the problem originate. What's happening when you modify the screen resolution ? Is it a lightning problem or a video issue ? When the screen is black do you see a faint image of the desktop. Use a light source over the Apple icon on the display back panel and check if you can see the desktop.
