Yes, the HD SATA port is likewise SATA II (3.0 Gb/s). In general a system only has one SATA controller chip and will offer the same SATA interface across all of the SATA ports it offers. While older iMac's had a dual SATA (HD) & PATA (optical drive) setup this series has a dual SATA setup and the 2011 model offers three SATA ports running SATA III (6.0 Gb/s). The 2012 onward offers only one SATA port and a custom blade SSD connection.
