its th second gen, my son got for christmas and forgot his password,can I clear it for him?thanks

Here's how to fix it:
- Plug in your iPod.
- Wait for it to load completely.
- Open My Computer (or computer if on Vista). Make sure you can view hidden files.
- Go to iPod_control.
- Go to the folder named Device.
- If your iPod is locked, there will be a file _locked . Rename the file to _unlocked.
- Safely remove your iPod and it will be cleared.

hello mate
Just follow these steps:
- Switch the iPod off
- Connect the usb lead to the iPod only
- Press the home button and keep holding it
- Plug usb cable to your pc and wait till the iTunes pops up (keep hold the home button)
- When iTunes appears with message the iPod is in recovery mode and need to be restored you can release the button and
- Restore your iPod.
