My 3gs cycles on and off?

Just replaced the battery and the battery shows 38% of power. It will work for maybe 5 minutes and then cycles off. I have placed the phone the charger and it just cycles off and on. The phone seems to work the short time that it is on.

It sounds like your battery is dead/dying. If you haven't replaced the battery before, I would recommend trying that. We sell the part here and have a free guide for installing it here.
