Can I swap my super drive for an SSD?

I'd like to swap out the super drive on my 2006 iMac 17 inch (2114), but I'm not sure if this is possible. Does anyone know if I can, and what size drive do I need to buy (2.5 v 3.5)?

Not very easily, nor cheaply... it might be smarter to take that money and put it towards a new box, sell or part out the old machine. It would be easier to put an SSD in place of your HD but even that will be costly.
