Black Screen DFU iPhone 4, Error 1601/1602 on Restore

I have an iPhone 4 that is stuck in DFU mode and will not restore through iTunes. The following are the processes I've tried to get the iPhone 4 to restore. All are performed with firewalls turned off.

Restore Process 1

1. Backup hosts file. Do not replace.

2. Use iReb to enter Pwned DFU.

3. iTunes restore 5.1.1.

RESULT: 1602

Restore Process 2

1. Create custom 5.1.1 IPSW using redsn0w

2. Enter Pwned DFU using redsn0w

3. Shift-click restore to custom in iTunes

RESULT: Hangs up on "verifying with Apple" 1602

Restore Process 3

1. Insert "74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com" in hosts file

2. Enter Pwned state with redsn0w

3. Shift-click restore to custom in iTunes

Result: Hang up on "verifying with Apple" 1602

Restore Process 4

1. Put phone into normal DFU mode

2. Normal iTunes restore

Result: Hang up on "verifying with Apple" 1602

Restore Process 5

1. Remove hosts file.

2. Enter recovery mode (screen is black, so I'm not sure of recovery vs. dfu)

3. Normal iTunes restore

RESULT: Hang up on "verifying with Apple" 1602

Restore Process 6

1. Create custom 5.1.1 IPSW using sn0wbreeze

2. Start TSS Server in tinyUmbrella and select Upgrade iPhone 4 baseband

3. Enter Pwned DFU with iReb

4. Custom restore from sn0wbreeze using iTunes

RESULT: Hang up on "preparing iPhone for restore" 1601

I also tested the battery voltage at 3.8 volts. Any ideas?

Charge/dock port may be bad.

Try a different USB cable or USB port.

I tried a different cable and a different USB port on different machine. Could the iPhone dock connecter be the problem?

Turn OFF anti-virus on computer. Then re-enter DFU with iReb.

All AV off and tried DFU with iReb. My error is now consistently 1600. The phone seems to undock and redock while iTunes is "preparing iPhone for restore."

by

1600 sometimes happens when you are not in true Pwned DFU, you must be in Pwned DFU. Turn OFF fire-wall, turn OFF anti-virus, restart computer. Enter Pwned DFU without any hesitation by the software. Restore iPhone with shift-click Custom Firmware.

by

Firewall and AV turned off. Restarted computer. Entered Pwned DFU in iReb. No visible hitches in iReb. iReb gave the "your device is now in PWNED DFU state" pop-up. Tried both stock and custom IPSW prepared by redsn0w by restoring in iTunes. No luck.

I have a similar problem ,besides all of the above,I have replaced battery, tried different pc's and given out to three different technicians to try. Could it be something to do with iboot and itunes on new firmware?

I've had the same issue with an iPhone 4. iTunes only responded when I entered DFU mode with a sound, a restore would give 1601. When I transferred the main board to another working iPhone 4, the iPhone worked normally! I found out either the sensor flex cable or the audio jack flex cable caused the black screen.

Good luck trying!

When did yr problem start? Was it ofter yr phone when for repair? if so, try this.

Open the phone and check if there isn't a screw or wire where the battery goes onto the phone.

My phone was also stuck in the loop, so i find a screw by the metal plate.

Not sure if I got lucky or if this is a fix. All I did was put phone in recovery mode and use my own downloaded ipsw. You can find any version you want here.

Steps:

Put iphone in recovery mode.

Plug into computer, let iTunes discover recovery mode phone.

Press and hold the shift and alt button as you click restore.

Find and select downloaded ipsw.

Restore.

I hope this works, might not but did for me :)
