Repair, disassembly, and troubleshooting information for the Steam Deck with LCD display, a handheld gaming console made by Valve, released on February 25, 2022. Identified by model number 1010.

Steam Deck turns on briefly, fan stops, screen stays black - won't boot or enter BIOS

My Steam Deck LCD won't turn on. When I press the power button, it makes a sound and the fan spins briefly before stopping completely, and the screen stays black.

Here is what I have tried so far:

- Forced shutdown (holding power for 10+ seconds)

- Connected the official charger

- Tried booting into BIOS (Volume Up + Power)

- Removed the M.2 SSD

- Disconnected and reconnected the battery

None of these steps resolved the issue or changed the behavior. Has anyone encountered this specific fan-spin-and-cutout behavior, and what else can I check?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi!

When it even don't want to enter the BIOS, it's not a good sign.

I would remove the motherboard and check for shorts. Check the fuses and also check for other damaged components.

Worst case: You need to replace the motherboard... This is not cheap, but the easiest route it is.
