iPhone 3GS new battery draining fast

Hi,

I've got an iPhone 3Gs and I changed the battery (616-0431) with a new one. Bought a 0433 online, which was supposed to be an 0435, but the guy delivered the 0433. I just installed the battery anyway but the battery life has not changed at all. The old battery needed way over 2 hours to charge completely. The new(?) one is full in under 2 hours.

Could the new battery be a wrong one? (already used or another problem?)

Is it possible that like oil on fingers are causing battery draining problems since I was not wearing any gloves?

Thanks a lot.

it may be a new battery that has sat on the shelf for the past year or so...means in effect it's an old battery. Depending on what you use the phone for may mean that you are using the battery up faster than others ie gaming or browsing internet. If your usage is pretty non descript then send it back.

Yes, this could be. I had another clue because the battery was charged at 55% so I had reason to be suspicious. I checked the battery with BatteryInfoLite and all pointed to the fact that the battery was all but new. It has over 150 charging cycles and has only 88% of his old capacity. So much for "new battery"...

Thanks anyway =)

PS: Could it be possible that a screwed up jailbreak is the reason for draining battery?

Sad thing, I ordered two more batteries and all of them were used ones, despite the fact that they were sold as new. I now have no idea where to get a genuine battery from.
