Horizontal Lines display while starting and desktop not showing up

Hi,

My Macbook pro is early 2011 make, Since last 10 days randomly it shows horizontal colored lines and also desktop don't show up. Than I put it on charging adapter and press on button and press option+command+p+r button all together and after three noises it starts normal and remain normal for while.

I am very confuse, do I need to visit Apple service centre or it can be fix at home.

Thanks in advance for help!!!

Attach the unit to an external monitor. If the problem shows up it's the VGC (VPU) or logic board if it doesn't the fault lies in the cabling or LCD. If the machine is under warranty by all means let Apple fix it.

Yeah I guess will be a better option to take it to Apple Service centre as I do have it covered under warranty.

Thanks for the effort though machead3!!!
