I accidentally cut a sliver of the aluminum tape underneath the fan tape off when cutting off a piece that was worn out to replace with kapton tape and the temps went up, what should I do to fix this? I haven't tried anything as of yet because I would like to hear from the community first

Hello,
The first thing that I would do is try to remove the whole aluminum tape and carefully replace it with a new aluminum tape. That is just what I personally would do.

Also is it fine that I put the kapton tape over it? I listened to Ai and cut the part of the black tape off of the fan that was worn out and that's how this mess started. I feel like if I don't cover it with kapton tape it will short the steam deck because the new aluminum tape would be exposed

Thank you guys for your help and sorry for forgetting to add pictures, I went ahead and fully replaced the tape with flame Retardant Aluminum tape and put kapton tape over that to insulate the conductive aluminum tape, it's working great now
Also I hadn't realized but I had also lost one of the gray thermal pads and that was affecting the temps so I replaced both with thermal grizzly minus 8 pads I had in a drawer luckily
