My Panasonic 13.5 kg top-load washing machine spins for only 2 minutes

Does anyone know how to fix this issue? My Panasonic 13.5 kg top-load washing machine spins for only 2 minutes, stops, and then starts refilling with water. After repeating this cycle 3 times, it throws a U13 error code.

This started after an overloaded wash. Even after removing the clothes (or running it completely empty), it keeps doing the exact same thing. I’ve already checked the suspension rods (it doesn't shake) and the safety switch, and both seem fine. Any ideas on what else could be wrong?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi @navchantha

What is the model number of the washer?

Panasonic Washing Machine Model NA-F13AR1

@navchantha

When you say "safety switch" do you mean the out of balance switch which is connected to the tub?

If it is the one you mean did you test it electrically using a DMM (digital multimeter) and if it is OK, did you also prove the switch wiring for continuity from the switch back to the control board is OK?

The switch is ok, I’m tested.

@navchantha

Did you prove the wiring from the switch to the control board as suggested, you never said

What model is the washing machine? From what I can tell it seems as though the washing machine is unbalanced.

Try this:

  • Re-distribute the load: Open the lid, untangle the clothes, and spread them evenly around the tub. Avoid bunching items to one side.
  • Adjust the load size: Remove a few items if the load is too heavy, or add a couple of garments if you are washing just one or two small items.
  • Level the machine: Check if the washer rattles or tilts on the floor. Adjust the leveling legs so the machine sits flat and stable.
  • Check drainage: Ensure water drains properly and the drain hose is not twisted, clogged, or raised too high.
  • Restart the cycle: Close the lid and press the start button to resume spinning

I would also ensure the filters are cleaned out and empty of any debris. Ensure when the machine is empty that it can spin freely without any problems.

Dear Charlie,

Thank for your advice. I tried to follow your step, but It still stuck and back to refill water. I check the drainage, pressure switch, safty switch, and rod absorber, it is OK.

The error code you have mentioned (U13) means that the Washing Machine is unbalanced. I would do everything to ensure that the floor is completely levelled. Check that the floor underneath is good and flat, ensure that that feet are also level, if the machine has customised feet to adjust the level, the use this. You can also use a level (the one with a bubble) the ensure the washing machine is completely level in all directions.
