Interior of iMac Screen Dirty?

I seem to have a couple of gray spots/streaks on my screen that can not be cleaned off.. they seem like they are behind the glass and not electronic. Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks, Spencer

Sounds like someone has been in it. You'll need suction cups to remove the screen. You can get them here: Heavy-Duty Suction Cups (Pair)

Here's how to do it: iMac Intel 27" EMC 2309 and 2374 Glass Panel Replacement

it can be done with another object too, two butter knives (One on each side) does the trick as well.

A butter knife on a 2k+ machine! Maybe after 10 years passes. There is an apple dealer up the st. They are going to hook me up.

The whole top of the monitor is getting a little splotchy. It was not like that when it arrived direct from the factory. Perhaps heat is causing something on the surface of the LED to discolor. It's actually on the LED screen and not the glass.

Entirely different scenario than dirty glass. Get it in and I would also pop for the three year Apple Care if problems arise this soon. It may be cheap at twice the price.

It's definitely some build up and not "in" the monitor. The screen displays perfectly. Thanks everyone.. Hopefully I get time to take this over today.

The modeling IS in the layers of the monitor... the apple dealer up the street took it apart and cleaned it all up to no avail.. then ordered a new screen. Thanks for the replies! Spencer

It's a common iMac display problem - see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa...
