Micro-DVI recognised but there is no ouput.

Hi,

I have an orignal Macbook Air with a Micro-DVI output. When I connect this up to an external monitor the Macbook recognises there is another display (screen display in the top bar), but the monitor won't come out of power save mode. I have tried two different Micro-DVI cables and three monitors.

I fear there is a fault on the logic board, but was hoping someone might have seen this before and have a cheaper option?

Cheers.

Could be an adaptor issue. See this chart from Apple. Check the resolution your monitor supports and try changing the resolution on your MacBook Air (this was a pretty common problem "back in the day" when automagic detect/set of resolution was not a feature of most monitors).
