I was playing on an app and all of a sudden it exited and the screen went dark, so I thought it was dead but when I went to charge it, it didn't work. I don't know what to do about it, please respond. Thanks in advance!

Try holding the on/off button and the home button for 15 secconds, then re-boot it. It will make you enter in restore mode and then letting you re-boot it. If it didn't work it probably is a problem with the connection of the screen with the body of the ipod, you could then take it to an apple store to see if they can fix it.
