PS5 Error SU-101312-8 and 'Ghost Disc' - Drive won't take or eject discs

My PS5 disc drive is completely unresponsive and I am getting error code SU-101312-8. The console exhibits 'ghost disc' behavior: when I press the eject button, the console turns on as if there is a disc inside, but the drive is empty and will not accept any new discs.

I have already tried the following with no success:

1. Full power cycle (unplugged for 30+ minutes).

2. Restarting in Safe Mode.

3. Manually turning the manual eject screw (both clockwise and counter-clockwise) to try and reset the mechanical intake rollers.

4. Reseating the large ribbon cable connecting the disc drive to the motherboard.

The console still refuses to recognize the drive or take discs. I suspect it might be a blown fuse (F5401/F5402) or a stuck internal sensor. Any advice on how to test the sensors or which specific fuses to check for my model would be greatly appreciated.

Hi!

Did you recently swapped the disc drive?

You need to swap the PCB from the old/broken drive, to the new drive.

If this has been done, but the issue is still happening for the new drive, you need to take a look at the drive it's PCB.

You always need the original PCB.

Check the fuses (all of them) for continuity with your multimeter.

If they are good, then check for shorts on the board.

The sensor is located at a separate small board > Check step 35 here: PlayStation 5 Optical Drive Laser Replacement

The new drive should have a new one. If not, then get the part and install it.

Can you let us know how it goes?
