Will charge on computer but will not connect to itunes

I have an ipod touch. I just recently installed the latest version of itunes. My ipod when plugged into the computer will show it's charging.. however, it's like it is not connected at all. Can not locate it in any hardware on my computer nor in itunes. When connected to the computer it's stuck on the connect to itunes screen. It will not turn on whatsoever.. this is the only screen I get.... HELP!!!

Have you tried to do a soft reset or a hard reset? To do a soft reset, all you need to do is hold the power button and the home button at the same time and hold them down for about 10 seconds until you see the apple logo. This has fixed this issue a few times in the past. If this doesn't work, I would recommend doing a hard reset. To do this, you have to go into:

Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

This will reset all of the settings in the phone and should allow you to see it in iTunes. This will also delete all data from the phone. So just be aware of that as well. I hope this helps.

I was finally able to fix the problem by resetting my iPod.

To reset your iPod (4 Gen)

-----------------------

1. Hold the "Menu" and the "Select" button (white button) for 10 seconds

2. The Apple logo will appear indicating it has been reset

3. Plug in your USB and it should work..... :)

I had the same problem for some times. i tried multiple things like shutting it down and connecting it directly, shutting it down and back up then connecting. But your problem could be also connected directly to Itune. unless there is data that you do not want to lose on it, i would try to reinstal Itune. There is also the Driver that your Iphone use to connect to the computer that could be wrong. As usually, when you connect your iphone, a small driver installation should had started and also ask you if you want to open files or something else. Also, for the best awnser, i would recommend to talk directly with an Apple employee, from their customer services which will point you in the right direction.

I tried everything at least 10 times , nothing worked . In the end I took it into the back alley by the garages & launched the stupid thing at a brick wall . The ipod still doesn't work (and is on 100 or so pieces) I have no portable music , but I feel much better not wasting my life with ipods & Itunes any more.....
