Upgrade hard drive to 3TB

I have an iMac 3.06GHz, EMC No. 2211.

It currently has 1TB hard drive which needs replacing. I have read that I can upgrade to 2TB. I just wish to know if I can upgrade to 3TB, e.g. Western Digital Caviar Green.

I would stay with a 2TB drive as the 3TB drives tend to run hotter and the system might not cool as effectively with it. If you do go to 3TB make sure you are using the newer Mac OS-X's (Snow Leopard or Lion) also make sure your firmware is up to date.

Western Digital makes a cool-running 3TB drive. Just picked one up for $110.
