Samsung A53 5G
My phone charges perfectly fine, But when i connect it to my computer or any device the options to share photo's, files and data transfer are greyed out. Is this a USB problem? This also makes my work van not see my phone for Android Car and that makes driving and navigation a lot more difficult

Any one familiar and is this a usb problem and can I repair it myself?

Hi @cidamonster73

Have you tried using a different, known working, compatible USB-C cable and checked if using that worked?

If still no good check if the Auto Blocker setting has been enabled and if so disable it. Go to Settings → Security and Privacy → Auto Blocker

Use a strong light and a magnifying glass to visually inspect the USB-C port in the phone to make sure that it is clear of any lint. dust etc and that all the pins are there and not that they're bent or broken.

Especially check pins A6 + A7 (top row of pins) and B6 + B7 (bottom row of pins) as these are the pins used for the data transfer between the phone and an external USB connection. (A6 & B6 are the same point as is A7 & B7 as this allows the USB plug to be inserted either way.

If there is lint dust etc in the port enclosure use a vacuum cleaner to try and remove it or if it won't move a sharpened wooden/plastic toothpick. Do not use a metal pin or probe as you can cause electrical problems in the phone.

Google 'enable galaxy A53 developer options'. Then when you've enabled it go Into it and enable usb debugging.

Thank u for the suggestion, I sadly already had this enabled and it didnt fix it

Is there a way to actually look into the debug and see if there are any errors?

If you look in developer settings there should be a 'Default USB configuration'. Click that and set transfer files as default.

Yh I did that too,

When I connect to windows it also gives an error with last device connected has errors. But it doesn't say what to do.

On any computer, any cable this is the issue. I even fully reset my phone and that also didnt work.

I make a lot of photos/video and im wondering if I would just try to install a new daughterboars as they are pretty cheap or going for a new phone. Dont think this is a settings issue to be honest.

It just should kinda work especially with the full reset, so that eliminated the thought of it can be settings for me
