If you are describing the evaporator coil that's part of the ac system, it's buried in the hvac box sitting in the middle of the dashboard, behind the radio. The hvac box houses the heater core and evaporator coils.

Here's the relevant section in the 2002 Malibu service manual that shows how to remove/replace the evaporator core in the vehicle, that may help.
