Olympia SF 33 shift alignment off and keys hard to press after shiping
I recently received an Olympia SF 33 typewriter that was professionally cleaned before shipping, but it has significant shift alignment and typing issues.
Symptoms:
- Shift Alignment: Normal lowercase is fine, but the Shift Lock makes the carriage go drastically too high, causing the top half of uppercase letters to be faint or cut off.
- Missing Latch: I cannot find the metal hook/latch that usually holds the shift mechanism in place. I'm not sure if I'm just not seeing it, or if it's missing entirely.
- Heavy Keys: The keys require significant force to press.
I suspect shipping damage to the carriage stops or linkage. How can I adjust the "on-motion" stops to fix the over-travel, and what should the missing shift lock latch look like? I can provide photos if needed.
Thank you!
