iPod won't charge but works in Bose speaker

When plugged into a Bose speaker my ipod touch wheel works great, and has all my songs available. However, when I attach it to my imac by usb cable, it quickly shows that it needs to charge and is not recognized by itunes.

Sean OBrien, I am unsure of what model iPod you might have. the symptoms you describe point toward a bad battery. The Bose dock supplies a higher amperage to your iPod than your USB port. I suggest you start fixing it by replacing the battery. Hope this helps, good luck.
